It operates through Grupo SURA; Suramericana; Sura Asset Management; and Others segments. The company offers pension fund management, savings and investment, and asset management services; life, health, personal, general, and damage insurance; reinsurance; pension insurance and annuities; management consulting services; risk management, securities brokerage, and data processing services; vehicle inspection service, repair, purchase, selling, and assistance services; health, medical, paramedical, dental, and diagnostic aid services; financial products and services; and management, promotion, and intermediation services. In addition, the company purchases and sells securities; leases computer equipment; administers intellectual property, franchises, concessions, and authorizations; collects Mexican art; outsources information processing services; and acts as trustee in titling processes. The company was formerly known as Suramericana de Inversiones SA and changed its name to Grupo de Inversiones Suramericana S.A. in April 2009. Grupo de Inversiones Suramericana S.A. was founded in 1944 and is headquartered in Medellín, Colombia.
