EnergySolutions, Inc. provides nuclear services to government and commercial customers in the United States, the United Kingdom, and internationally. It operates in two segments: Government Group and Global Commercial Group. The Government Group segment is involved in providing customized waste management solutions; decommissioning (D&D) high-hazard nuclear facilities contaminated by hazardous and radiological wastes; and engineering services to support the deployment of radioactive hazardous and mixed waste treatment, transportation, and disposal technologies to individual offices, departments, and administrations in the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of Defense, and United Kingdom Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. The Global Commercial Group segment provides various onsite services comprising D&D, large component removal and disposition, radioactive material characterization and management, spent nuclear fuel, emergency response, site remediation and restoration, license termination, stakeholder and regulatory interface, liquid and solid waste management, and other nuclear and hazardous services. It also offers technology, systems, and equipment to process radioactively contaminated liquids generated by operating nuclear plants; decommissioning services; and logistics, processing, and disposal services, as well as owns and operates radioactive materials processing and disposal facilities. In addition, this segment engages in the operation, defueling, and decommissioning of nuclear power plant sites. It serves commercial customers, such as power and utility companies, pharmaceutical companies, research laboratories, universities, industrial facilities, state agencies, and other commercial entities involved with nuclear materials, and government customers. The company was founded in 2006 and is based in Salt Lake City, Utah with an additional location in Charlotte, North Carolina. It has facilities in Brampton, Elmwood, Canada; Barnwell, South Carolina; Erwin, Clinton, Memphis, Oak Ridge, Tennessee; and Grantsville, Utah.
