As of July 11, 2007, TODCO was acquired by Hercules Offshore, Inc. TODCO, doing business as TODCO, Inc., together with its subsidiaries, provides contract oil and gas drilling services primarily in the United States Gulf Coast. The company contracts drilling rigs, related equipment, and work crews on a day rate basis primarily to independent oil and gas companies, as well as to international and government-controlled oil and gas companies. Its drilling rig fleet consists of jackup rigs, barge rigs, and other rigs, which include submersible rigs, a platform drilling rig, and land drilling rigs. TODCO was formerly known as R&B Falcon Corp. and changed its name to TODCO in December 2002. The company was incorporated in 1997 and is based in Houston, Texas.
