The fund invests in public equity markets of the United States. The fund invests in stocks of companies operating across diversified sectors. The fund invests in growth and value stocks of companies across diversified market capitalization. The fund invests in stocks of companies that are deemed socially conscious in their business dealings and directly promote environmental responsibility. The fund seeks to track the performance of the MSCI USA Extended ESG Focus Index, by using representative sampling technique. It does not invest in stocks of companies operating across tobacco, controversial weapons, producers and retailers of civilian firearms, companies included in certain fossil fuels-related activity such as the production of thermal coal, thermal coal-based power generation and extraction of oil sands sectors. iShares Trust - iShares ESG Aware MSCI USA ETF was formed on December 1, 2016 and is domiciled in the United States.
