Roadway Corp.

Roadway Corp. was acquired by Yellow Corp. on 12/11/2003. Roadway Corporation, through its subsidiary, Roadway Express, Inc. (REX), provides long-haul less-than-truckload (LTL) freight services on major city-to-city routes (lanes) in North America, and on international lanes to and from North America. REX provides transportation of general commodity freight by motor vehicle, in North America and elsewhere. General commodity freight includes apparel, appliances, automotive parts, chemicals, food, furniture, glass, machinery, metal and metal products, nonbulk petroleum products, rubber, textiles, wood, and miscellaneous manufactured products. REX also offers LTL service within Canada and Mexico through its subsidiaries, and offers import and export service for approximately 100 additional countries worldwide through offshore agents. Besides, New Penn Motor Express, Inc., another subsidiary, is a regional, next-day ground LTL carrier of general commodities serving 12 states in the northeastern United States, Quebec, Canada, and Puerto Rico, with links to the midwest and southeast United States and Ontario, Canada. In January 2003, the company sold its Arnold Transportation Services subsidiary to a management group and a private equity firm, Jefferies Capital Partners. The transaction is valued at approximately $55 million. In March 2003, Michael W. Wickham stepped down as Chief Executive Officer; and James D. Staley was appointed to be president and chief executive officer.
