SGI International develops and markets proprietary energy technologies. The company's technologies include the patented Liquids From Coal Process (LFC Process), which upgrades low-rank coal into a higher BTU coal called process derived fuel (PDF), and concurrently produces both coal derived liquids (CDL) and coal gas (CG). The other technology is Opti-Crude Enhancement Technology (OCET) Process which increases the efficiency of oil refineries by deasphalting crude oil, as well as residual oil bottoms, which is produced in oil refining. SGI International was formerly known as Synfuel Genesis, Inc. and changed its name in June 1985. The company is based La Jolla, California.
