Corus Bankshares, Inc. ("Corus" or the "Company"), incorporated in Minnesota in 1958, is a former bank holding company registered under the Bank Holding Company Act of 1956. On Friday, September 11, 2009, Corus’ wholly-owned banking subsidiary, Corus Bank, N.A. (the "Bank"), was closed by the OCC and the FDIC was appointed as receiver of the Bank. Prior to then, Corus, through the Bank, was primarily focused on commercial real estate lending and deposit gathering. The third, and smaller, business of the Bank was servicing the check cashing industry.
