El Paso Electric Company

El Paso Electric Company engages in generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity. It generates electricity through nuclear fuel, natural gas, purchased power, and solar photovoltaic panels. The company owns electrical generating facilities with a net generating capacity of approximately 2,085 megawatts; four 345 kilovolt (kv) transmission lines in New Mexico and Arizona; and three 500 kV lines in Arizona. It serves residential, commercial, industrial, public authority, and wholesale customers; and distributes electricity to retail customers. El Paso Electric Company was formerly known as El Paso Electric Railway Company and changed its name to El Paso Electric Company in 1925. The company was founded in 1901 and is based in El Paso, Texas. As of July 29, 2020, El Paso Electric Company was taken private. El Paso Electric Company operates as a subsidiary of Sun Jupiter Holdings LLC.
