Continental Bank Corp.

In August 1994, Continental Bank Corporation was merged with and into BankAmerica Corporation. As a result of the merger, Continental's principal subsidiary, Continental Bank, was renamed Bank of America Illinois. Previously, Continental Bank Corporation operated as the holding company for the Continental Bank N.A. Continental's customer base consisted principally of corporate, institutional, and depository customers. The company, through its direct and indirect subsidiaries, focussed on corporate finance, specialized financial services, trading, and equity financing. Continental provided a range of deposit, credit, advisory, and related financial services to its business customers. The company also operated as an originator of financial products to be issued or used by its customers; and a distributor of financial products that investors purchased or traded.
