Southern Company Gas, an energy services holding company, distributes natural gas in Illinois, Georgia, Virginia, and Tennessee. It operates through three segments: Gas Distribution Operations, Gas Pipeline Investments, and Gas Marketing Services segments. Its Gas Distribution Operations segment operates, constructs, and maintains natural gas pipelines and storage facilities serving residential, commercial, and industrial customers. The Company’s Gas Pipeline Investments segment undertakes the construction of pipeline projects. Its Gas Marketing Services segment markets natural gas to natural gas commodity customers; and energy-related products that provide natural gas price stability and utility bill management. Southern Company Gas was formerly known as AGL Resources Inc. and changed its name to Southern Company Gas on July 11, 2016. The company was founded in 1856 and is based in Atlanta, Georgia.
