As of October 25, 1999, Sonat Inc. was acquired by El Paso Energy Corporation. Sonat, Inc. operated as an energy holding company. It was engaged in domestic oil and natural gas exploration and production through Sonat Exploration Company and Sonat Exploration GOM, Inc. It was also engaged in the transmission and storage of natural gas through Southern Natural Gas Company and Citrus Corp. In addition, the company was also engaged in natural gas and electric power marketing and electric generation through Sonat Energy Services Company.
